In               a               previous               article               I               outlined               some               surprising               movies               from               the               2000's               that               featured               some               part               of               Illinois               in               filming.

For               this               overview,               I               focused               on               my               favorite               movies               filmed               in               Illinois               during               the               1990s.

While               some               are               obvious               choices,               others               may               surprise               you.

Have               a               look.

Illinois               Movie:               Home               Alone               (1990)               Macaulay               Culkin's               breakout               role               was               largely               filmed               in               Illinois.

The               airport               scene               was               filmed               at               O'Hare               International               Airport               in               Des               Plaines,               IL.

Winnetka               Illinois               locations               include               the               McCallister               home               at               671               Lincoln               Avenue,               the               pharmacy               scene               filmed               at               Panera               Bread               Company               in               940               Green               Bay               Rd.,               Mitch               Murphy's               house               in               656               Lincoln               Avenue,               Winnetka               and               the               railroad               bridge               which               is               located               at               1065               Gage               Street,               Winnetka,               Illinois.

The               Christmas               choir               scene               was               filmed               at               2417               Prairie               Avenue,               Evanston,               Illinois.
               Illinois               Movie:               Groundhog               Day               (1992)               Woodstock,               Illinois               provided               a               lot               of               the               exterior               shots               for               Groundhog               Day               including               the               old               courthouse,               the               jail,               the               opera               house,               the               bowling               alley,               shots               of               the               whole               town               and               the               famous               town               square.

Some               of               the               film's               interior               shots               were               done               in               Cary,               Illinois               and               quarry               used               can               be               found               in               Rockford,               Illinois.
               Illinois               Movie:               The               Fugitive               (1993)               Downtown               Chicago               figures               prominently               in               The               Fugitive               as               the               St.

Patrick's               Day               Parade               winds               through               the               Loop               and               continues               on               Dearborn.

The               scenes               involving               the               one-armed               man               and               running               along               the               rooftops               were               filmed               in               the               Pullman               area               of               Chicago.
               Illinois               Movie:               Rudy               (1993)               For               the               inspirational               tale               of               Rudy,               the               young               man               who               struggled               to               play               football               at               Notre               Dame,               several               Illinois               locations               were               used               including               Rockdale,               Joliet               and               St.

Rita               of               Cascia               High               School               at               7740               S.

Western               Avenue               in               Chicago,               Illinois.
               Illinois               Movie:               U.S.

Marshalls               (1997)               While               the               sequel               to               The               Fugitive               shares               many               Chicago               scenes,               this               film               moves               down               state               as               well.

Chicago's               Cook               County               Courthouse               in               the               Loop,               St.

Anne's               Hospital               on               West               Thomas               Street               and               the               Bohemian               National               Cemetery               on               North               Pulaski               are               featured               significantly.

The               Institute               of               Cultural               Affairs               also               in               Chicago               does               duty               as               a               nursing               home.

West               Vienna               and               Bay               City               are               involved               in               scenes               of               the               plane               crash.

The               plane               was               later               hauled               to               Mermet               Springs               and               sunk               where               it               used               to               train               scuba               divers.
               Illinois               Movie:               A               Stir               of               Echoes(1998)               The               entire               movie               was               filmed               on               location               in               Chicago               as               stated               in               the               end               credits.

Kevin               Bacon's               character,               Tom               Witzky,               lives               at               3619               W.

George               Street               while               the               house               where               the               party               takes               place               is               not               really               across               the               street               but               on               the               1400               Block               of               N.

Wicker               Park               Avenue.

The               Old               Saint               Rita               High               School               was               located               at               63rd               Street               and               Claremont               Avenue               but               has               since               been               torn               down               as               was               the               bar               at               the               corner               of               Evergreen               and               Milwaukee               Avenues.

The               neighbor's               house               that               haunts               Witzky               is               at               3609               W.

George               Street.

The               Oak               Woods               Cemetery               at               1035               E.

67th               Street               was               also               used               in               the               film.

               Illinois               Movie:               Mercury               Rising               (1997)               The               Bruce               Willis               action               film               has               him               saving               a               young               autistic               boy               who               may               be               the               only               witness               to               a               murder.

The               film               was               shot               in               the               Hyde               Park               neighborhood               of               Chicago.
               Illinois               Movie:               The               Negotiator               (1997)               Kevin               Spacey               and               Samuel               L.

Jackson               square               off               in               this               story               of               a               cop               who               has               seemingly               gone               bad.

When               the               SWAT               team               lands               on               the               rooftop,               it's               atop               the               Quaker               Oats               Building               at               555               W.

Monroe               St.

in               Chicago.

The               Penn               Central               Freight               Yards               on               the               west               side               of               the               city               as               well               as               shots               of               Wacker               Drive               and               downtown               Chicago               make               appearances               too.
               Illinois               Movie:               Return               to               Me               (1999)               The               Story               of               a               heart               transplant               recipient               accidentally               meeting               and               falling               for               the               surviving               spouse               of               the               donor               is               set               in               Chicago.

Michael               Reese               Hospital               on               South               Ellis               Avenue               and               The               Twin               Anchors               restaurant               figure               prominently               in               the               film
               Illinois               Movie:               Save               the               Last               Dance               (1999)               The               story               of               young               ballerina               who               must               go               to               live               with               her               father               in               Chicago               after               her               mother               dies               is               filmed               largely               in               the               city.

The               Chicago               River,               the               Chicago               Academy               of               Arts               and               the               CTA               Rail               System               are               featured               throughout               the               film.
