It's great to go on vacation, and even better if isn't incredibly expensive; no matter how old you are, having an awesome vacation on an equally awesome budget is good for everyone. This article will concentrate on Senior vacations, and how to have a fabulous time without spending too much cash. Let's Go To Prague Prague has a lovely old world charm about it and a lot of history to. Since the fall of the Iron Curtain, Prague has become one of the most popular destinations in Europe. It has some of the worlds most historic architecture; Prague Castle, (the largest in the world,) the picturesque Charles Bridge, the Museum of Decorative Arts with huge collections of glass, theaters, galleries, cinemas, Old Town Square, in fact the historic center of Prague has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. Summer is a lovely time of year in Prague, the temperatures are normally between 68 degrees and 80 degrees, so not too hot. The attractions stay open late and the days are long and warm. Hotels The cost of living in Prague is relatively cheap when compared to Western Europe, and it is quite feasible to spend no more than $50 to $60 dollars per day. Old Town Square Hotel is quaint and right in the middle of one of the most famous places in the world. Best Western Hotel in Meteor Plaza. Old Prague Hotel. Hotel Prague Inn. Caribbean When it comes to expense, cruises are a good choice for seniors, they are normally all inclusive which means that there will be no concern about any hidden extras. The cruises can run from as low as $600 all in. Caribbean cruises take you to Port Canaveral, Cococay, Philipsburg, on the Eastern side, and Port Everglades, St. Marteen, Grenada, Barbados, Antigua, Tortola and Levantado on the west and south side. All of these great destinations have their own wonder....The Devils Bridge, Half Moon Bay, Montego Bay and Abeco Islands to name but a few. Summer on the sea is beautiful, with blue skies, birds flying over the deck and the islands of the Caribbean surrounding you. The temperature can get warm, maybe up to 90 degrees, but better that than raining and cold. On land you can hide under one of the many palm trees for the shade, on board ship sit on the shady deck. Flights and Hotels in Barbados Of course you may want to fly and stay in a hotel. I have chosen Barbados as a destination, where you can visit such places as Arlington House and Blackmans Gully. You can fly to Barbados for as little as $300 return trip, and the following hotels can be booked for under $100 per night. Adulo apartments. Worthington Court Apartments. Butterfly Beach Hotel. Apollo Apartments. Allamanda Hotel. Florida Florida is a lovely place to visit as a senior, and not just Central Florida with its hustle and bustle of Disney Life. St. Petersburg had been a favorite senior destination for a long time, it is not expensive, has lovely weather, is located on the western shore of the famous Tampa Bay and has very good hotels which don't cost the earth. Attractions include Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Salvador Darli Museum, The Pier, bayfront yacht club and the promenade. Sebring has a really low cost of living, is famous for its Sebring Raceway, is quiet and dressed in sunshine. If you are seeking some solitude and want to get back to nature you can pass hours of happiness in the Highlands Hammock State Park. There is great golf and good dining at the Spring Lake Golf Resort. This community understands seniors, it is host to the oldest population in Florida, and everyone plays golf, shops, relaxes and even run the local businesses. This is a great place for seniors to visit in the summer, the golf courses are splendid and the relaxation is wonderful. Hotels Residence Inn. (Sebring) Lakeside Inn. (Sebring) Holiday Inn Express. One idea is to stay in the city of Dublin and travel from there. You can take a trip to Blarney Castle just outside of Dublin and kiss the Blarney Stone, visit Killarney National Park, take a trip to Kilkenny Castle near Dublin, or marvel at the ancient monument at Newgrange, what ever you do you will enjoy it. Hotels Abberley Court Hotel (Dublin) Blooms Hotel (Dublin) Ariel House Guest House (Cork) These are just a few of the well priced hotels in Ireland Dublin. Paris If you have ever had a yearning to visit Paris, then now is the time to go. You can get flights in the summer for $600 return, all the way to the magnificent city. Sit on the steps of the Sacre-Coeur and watch the lights of the city come on one by one, visit the Louvre and marvel at the Mona Lisa, walk hand in hand down the Champs-Elysees all the way to the Arc De Triomphe, discover Notre Dame Cathedral, picnic beneath the Eiffel Tower or sip coffee in an outdoor cafe. This a wonderful city for seniors in the summer, not too hot, beautiful down the river Seine, the kind of romance every older and wiser couple should experience. Hotels There are two good hotels around Notre Dame that senior people find very nice. One of them is the Hilton Paris La Defense Hotel, the other is Parc Saint Severin Hotel Paris. They are comfortable, include breakfast, are near the attractions, cozy and have very friendly helpful staff. Other good hotels in the area include: Grand Hotel Elysees in Flaubert. Hotel Aberotel in Montparnasse. Grand Hotel Des Balcons. The above is a small selection of cheaper comfortable hotels. Seattle Seattle is surrounded by water and mountains, If you are over 50 and love the hustle and bustle of city life but still need to get away from it all, Seattle is the place to be. The city is surrounded by the Puget Sound and offers whale watching trips and ferry trips to different islands. You can take in the diversity of Alki Beach, or travel a few miles out to the East and visit Kirkland, a smaller city surrounded by Lake Washington. Boat rides, sea plane rides, and lazy sun rest days are right here. For even more peace visit the mountains. Mount Rainier stands magnificently above all others and is only a two hour trip from Seattle. Maybe you want to see Mount Saint Helens the historic volcano that continues to bubble, or maybe you want to taste the life of the city and get the elevator to the top of the Space Needle to wonder at the views. If you would like to watch a fish market in action or window shop for an afternoon, the Pike Place Market is ideal. The weather is beautiful in the months of July and August and the views are breathtaking. So much can be achieved here without spending loads of cash. Hotels Woodmans Hotel. (Kirkland) Heathman Hotel. (Kirkland) Best Western. ( Pioneer Square, Seattle) All good value hotels. Rome Rome can be a very affordable city if you plan it right. Make sure you book a few months ahead of time, and you can get air prices for as low as $600 return. Blessed with a temperate climate, Rome can be hot and dry in the summer, while the mountain alps provide cool air. Its wonders include incredible works of art and ancient monuments. In Rome you can visit Vatican City and the charming medieval backstreets, the Spanish Steps are just a walk away, and the famous Colosseum is not far either. Even though Rome is a big City, the historical sites are all within walking distance of each other, enabling seniors to travel around at a more leisurely pace. After your visits, you can sit in an outdoor cafe and sip coffee as you watch the world go by. Unless you go inside the Vatican, all these sites are free. Hotels Hotel Piazza Venezia. Trevi Hotel Albergo Hotel Fontana These hotels are all under $200 dollars per night. Flagstaff Arizona Summer weather in Flagstaff is perfect. Days are comfortable with cooler temperatures in the evening. Be prepared for the occasional rain and thunderstorm, however they clear up as quickly as they arrive, and can give quite an exciting feel to your vacation. Once again, great travel prices can be found by booking early. Flagstaff is home to the famous railroad which gave life to the city when it was little more than a campsite for pioneers. The train now takes visitors on great trips for reasonable prices. The magnificent Grand Canyon is not far away and you can take a one day trip, especially designed for seniors, floating on the Colorado River viewing the canyon from the bottom. If you are interested in space travel, stand where the Apollo Astronauts trained before landing on the moon for the first time, and if you look through the huge telescope on a clear night you will see the many stars and planets of the universe. Hotels Americas Best Inn and Holiday Inn Express, have both been recommended as excellent hotels for seniors. They have discounts all the time and are situated near to transport with a very friendly welcoming staff. Hungary Hungary, like Prague is a bargain compared to traveling to Western Europe. You can exist happily as a visitor on $60 dollars a day, visiting some beautiful places. See the River Danube as it passes through Budapest on its way into Serbia, the river passes through eight countries starting in the Black Forest in Germany, all 1,800 miles of it. St. Stephens Church in Budapest is another site to experience, it is named after Hungarys first Christian king, and holds one of the countrys most prized possessions, St. Stephens right hand. The Castle District in Budapest is a wonderful attraction, it contains the Fishermens Bastion with its seven forbidding turrets, and Obuda is the part of Budapest which holds Roman ruins and the Kiscelli Museum. It is one of the most expensive in Central America, however the dollar travels a long way in Costa Rica. The climate is warm and the people are friendly. Visit the Arenal Volcano Rainforest, where the majestic forest meets the soaring volcano high in the air, or walk in the Santa Rosa National Park. The Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge has nature cruises every day, the life here is calm and interesting, well worth a trip for Seniors. Hotels Hotel Presidente. Hotel Santo Tomas. Hotel Don Carlo.
